Email hello@agentm.co.uk. Please include your device model, your Android or iOS version, and the app version shown at the bottom of the Settings screen. In the app, Settings → Support → Send feedback reaches the same inbox and adds the versions for you.
01 Scanning is blocked and says “Name the event first”
Deliberate. Every lead is filed under the event you are at, with its country — used to read phone numbers — and the legal basis recorded on every capture. Guessing either would produce records you could not defend later. Name the event with the button right under that message; you do not need to go to Settings. Adding a lead by hand comes straight after.
02 The camera is on but nothing scans
If a red banner says “The camera is running but nothing is being read”, that is a fault in the build and not something you are doing — restart the app, and report it if it persists.
Otherwise, check the mode. Badge reads the code and the printed front of a badge and saves on its own; Card reads a business card and saves only when you tap the shutter. Exhibition halls are dark: the torch button sits beside the shutter, on its right (a phone with no torch does not show it). Fill the frame with the badge and hold steady for a beat — Badge mode waits until the same code has been read more than once before it saves, which is what stops it inventing leads from striped carpet. If a badge has no code, or the code will not read, tap the shutter: the name, company and title printed on it are saved, with a photo of the badge. A code shown on a screen often will not read at all, so tap. While the last person’s details are still on screen, use the button at their foot: in Card mode Next card is the shutter; in Badge mode Next badge puts the details away and brings the shutter back.
03 A field came back blank
Lanyard leaves a field empty rather than filling it in wrongly. Anything it considered but was not sure about is kept as a suggestion — open the lead and one tap accepts it.
04 A lead is in “Needs a look” and is not in my export
“Needs a look” holds captures too thin to act on — a first name off a glared badge, or no name and no way to reach them. They are saved and safe. Being there changes only what export does: such a lead is left out of the vCard file, and out of the CSV unless it carries a badge ID, so the organiser’s list can still be matched to it. The Leads list says which of them are in the CSV. Open one and Needs attention says what is missing: fill it in, or tap Confirm anyway to export it as it is. Otherwise it is a lead like any other — where your leads are backed up (see the privacy policy, section 04), it is backed up the moment it is saved.
05 A voice note has no text yet
Turning voice notes into text is free on every plan and runs on your phone, but it needs a one-off download of the language model first, about 78 MB, best on Wi-Fi. Open the lead and tap Turn into text under the note, or download it from Settings → Voice. The text then appears under each note as it is ready, starting with the lead you tapped on. Notes recorded before the download are turned into text afterwards — nothing is lost by waiting.
06 “Brief me” and “Draft the follow-up” ask first, or are not there
They are off until you switch them on, on a new install and after an update that changes what they send, and Lanyard asks the first time you use one: tap it and a sheet shows what that request sends to Google’s Gemini — the company and its website domain, the job title, the name of the show and any product names saved on it, what the Company tab holds about the company, your own note text for a draft, plus the first name in a draft so the email can open with it, and never a photo, never the audio and never a question about the person. A company look-up also sends the country the show is in and the current month, so the search can tell same-named companies apart. Nothing is sent unless you tap Allow. Settings → AI sets out the same in full, and the switch at the bottom of that row turns them off again with one tap, taking effect on the next request. Transcription is unaffected either way: it runs on the phone and is free.
If a lock shows where the button would be, your plan does not include them right now, and the note under it says why. If the Settings row says this version has no AI backend, the build was made without a paid Firebase project and there is nothing to switch on. Nothing is sent on that build at all.
07 I discarded a lead by accident
An undo bar appears for a few seconds after any discard. If you missed it, re-scanning the same person brings the lead back with everything still attached.
08 Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the database, badge photographs and voice notes with it. See deleting an account if you created one.
Kept with the app’s source code and published here unchanged.
