Lanyard

Every lead you scan is saved before your phone says a word.

Lanyard captures badges and business cards at your stand in a single tap, with no signal needed. Then it turns three days of conversations into a list you can actually work on Monday.

Coming soon. Lanyard is built and being prepared for its first store release.

Encrypted on your phone. Backed up on a plan that includes it

Free at the booth, forever. Scanning badges and cards, typing a lead in by hand, voice notes and their text, grading Hot, Warm or Later, routing, search and CSV, vCard and PDF export cost nothing and always will. No lead limit, no plan to buy, and no trial that runs out halfway through a show.

01 · Features

At the stand, and the evening after

01

Saved before it ticks

Each lead is saved on your phone before it ticks, and capture works with no signal. No spinner, no “uploading” that never finishes.

02

Works with no signal

Exhibition halls have terrible wifi. Capture never needs it: scanning, notes and grades all happen on the device.

03

Reads the badge, not just the barcode

Most badges carry an opaque registration ID that means nothing without the organiser. Lanyard also reads the name, company and title printed on the front.

04

One person, one lead per phone

Hold a badge for thirty seconds and it captures once. Scan the same person again on the same phone and it stays one lead, with both captures on it. Scanned on a colleague’s phone, they are a separate record there.

05

Voice notes become text, free

Read three days of conversations instead of replaying them. Transcription runs on the phone itself, on every plan. The audio never leaves it.

06

Backed up and restored on any phone you sign in to

With an Event Pass or Pro, your shows, leads, notes and grades are backed up, and come back when you sign in on a new or second phone. Photos and recordings stay on the phone.

07

Scored against your ideal customer

With an Event Pass or Pro. You set the profile: your industries, the job titles that matter, the words that signal a need. Know which twelve of two hundred to call on Monday.

08

Briefings, news and a drafted follow-up

With an Event Pass or Pro, and only when you tap one you have allowed. The company, the role and your own note go to Google’s Gemini. Never a photo, never the audio, and a briefing is never asked about the person.

09

Find their work email

With an Event Pass or Pro. A badge that prints no address can have a verified one found on your tap, in the Android app: up to 100 a show, until 30 days after it, and at most 300 a month. Check emails asks whether the addresses read off cards accept mail.

10

Met them before?

With Pro, walk up already knowing you spoke at a show last year.

11

Your data, out

CSV, vCard and a PDF report whenever you want them, free, with each lead’s legal basis in the CSV.

02 · How it works

Three days of conversations, one list

  1. Scan

Badge or business card, one tap. It is saved, encrypted, on your phone before it ticks.

  2. Say what was said

Hold to record a voice note while the camera stays live. Mark the lead Hot, Warm or Later.

  3. Triage at nine, not at the booth

In the evening, notes become text on the phone. With a plan, leads are scored against the customer profile you set.

  4. Work the list

Export to CSV, vCard or PDF and follow up yourself, from your own email.

03 · Straight talk

What it won’t do

Being straight about this is worth more than a longer feature list.

  • It cannot decode every badge. 12 of the 16 registration vendors we could document emit an opaque ID that only the organiser’s database resolves. Lanyard captures that ID, photographs the badge and reads the printed face, but no app can turn an opaque code into an email address from the badge alone.
  • It will not invent a field. If it is not sure, it leaves the box empty and offers what it considered as a suggestion. Wrong data costs more than missing data.
  • It will not send anything on your behalf. No bulk email, ever.

04 · Pricing

What it costs

Everything at the booth stays free, forever: scanning, manual entry, voice notes and their text, grading, routing, search, and CSV, vCard and PDF export, with no lead limit. Paid plans are for what happens after the show: backup and restore on any phone you sign in to, scoring against your ideal customer, company briefings and news, drafted follow-ups, and finding and checking work email addresses (finding is in the Android app). An Event Pass covers one show and never renews; Pro is a subscription for people who exhibit all year, and also recognises people you met at earlier shows. The store shows the price in your own currency.

05 · Privacy

Privacy, plainly

The details you scan belong to the person you met, not to you and not to us. Your leads leave the phone only when you are signed in on a plan that includes backup, or when you tap an AI feature, Find email or Check emails that you have allowed. Photos and voice recordings never leave it. Two things about reading are sent without a tap, and neither carries a lead: Google’s ML Kit, the software that reads badges and cards, reports diagnostics about itself and an identifier for this installation to Google, with no switch; and Help improve reading, on by default, sends the shape of scans you correct, never a word or number from them, so every customer’s scans read better. One switch in Settings → Privacy turns it off. No ads, no trackers, no advertising identifiers. The AI features ask the first time you tap one, and everything is set out field by field in the full policy, which also explains what all this means for your obligations as well as ours.

06 · FAQ

Good questions

When can I get it?

Soon. Lanyard is built and its first release is being prepared for Google Play, with iOS to follow. The download link will be here when the store listing is live.

Will it read every badge?

No, and no app can. 12 of the 16 registration vendors we could document print a code that only the organiser’s database can resolve. Lanyard keeps that code, photographs the badge and reads the name, company and title printed on it.

Does it need an account or a connection?

It needs an account: you sign up once, with Apple on iPhone, with Google, or with an email address, before the app opens. Your account is how your leads are backed up and restored, on a plan that includes it. After that, capture needs no signal.

What is free, and what is paid?

Everything at the booth is free with no lead limit, including turning voice notes into text. An Event Pass for one show, or Pro, adds backup and restore, scoring, company briefings and news, drafted follow-ups, and finding and checking email addresses.

Does it send follow-up emails for me?

Never. With a plan it can prepare a draft, which you edit and send from your own email. There is no bulk send anywhere in the app.

What happens to the voice notes?

They are turned into text on the phone, free on every plan, after a one-off download of the language model. The audio never leaves the handset under any setting.
